It all begins with a young person in our community who experiences Chihamba’s Dancers, Drumming, Storytelling and interactive learning experiences.

Chihamba proudly supports our local High School Seniors of African decent by providing a $500 (minimum) African American Heritage Scholarship each year since 2002.
3 deserving Seniors each received a $500 Scholarship award, June 2024.

The Chihamba African American Cultural Arts Festival is the longest standing African American Festival Experience in the Charlottesville/ Albemarle area. With traditions like Kuumba Kids Corner, Live Music, Performances, Health Fair, Taste of Africa and so much more.
July 26, 2025 marks the 34th Festival year.
